What I wore on my face for a special event

Hello!

I recently wrote about a dress I wore to a red carpet event I was invited to last month.  I thought I would also write a little post on what I decided to do with my make-up.  As I didn't want to be carrying around a little bag with me all evening I needed to wear make-up that would be very long lasting and not need any touch-ups, though I did slip my fiancĂ© my lipstick to keep with him just in case.  It turned out I didn't even need it though as my lipstick stayed in place all evening!  So with that in mind what make-up products did I go for?

As I hate wearing foundation and my skin was in quite good condition I decided to go with the Clarins Beauty Flash Balm to give my skin a natural radiance and glow.  I layered this over the Body Shop's Aloe Soothing Day Cream which I picked because it's a soothing and light cream with out SPF.  I wanted to use a moisturiser without SPF because that can cause flashback in photos.  Under the eyes I used the Lumene Vitamin C Radiant Eye Cream as a base which I used the Maybelline Fit Me concealer on top of to cover my dark circles.
With my base done I used the Clinique Chubby Stick Shadow Tint for Eyes in Lots o' Latte.  I went for this because I wanted a fairly neutral looking eye, and as much as I love the Maybelline 24hr Tattoo in Bronze on Bronze, this trumps it in terms of longevity and is much more natural looking.
I used my new Lumene Blueberry Liquid Eyeliner on the top lash line to make sure my eyes were defined and used the Manhattan Volcano Explosive Volume Waterproof mascara on my lashes.  I used Art Deco Eyebrow Powder in shade 5 on my eyebrows using a flat angled brush to add natural looking definition to them.
On my lips I went for the Blistex Lip Relief Cream first to soothe my lips which are a bit dry at the moment.  This was particularly necessary as I was going for a long lasting lipstick which can be a bit drying.  Once this had soaked in I applied the Bourjois Rouge Velvet Lipstick in Frambourjoise.  I chose this lipstick because I trusted it's staying power and it's a lovely bright but not too bright matte pink.  To balance this out I used my Clinique Powder Blusher in Pink Love because I felt that the pink in it was a good match for the lipstick.  Then I used the Mary-Lou Manizer highlighting powder on the tops of my cheeks and just above my cupids bow because, well.... it's just really pretty!
I was going to leave it at that but then in the back of the car I decided to add a little bit of powder to my forehead and nose because I can get a bit shiny there.  I used my Lumene Touch of Radiance Powder lightly on those areas.  Later on in the evening I did look a bit shiny so maybe I could have used a touch more of that!
Phew!  That was quite a long list.  I don't normally go to town quite so much with products on my face but it was a special occasion and I knew I was going to be photographed and quite possibly captured on film too, so I wanted to be looking my best all evening.  It was interesting for me to figure out which products to use as they clearly were the ones I trusted the most.  I also was surprised at how easy it was for me to figure out what kind of make-up look I'm most comfortable with.  Subtly defined eyes and a semi-bright lip colour was an obvious choice so perhaps this is route I will go down when it comes to my wedding day make-up as well!

Till next time :)

Most Used Make-up Products Lately

Hello!  As autumn sneaks in I have been noticing myself using the same make-up products over and over the past couple of weeks.  I have been feeling glossy brown shadow and natural lips with a hint of pink.  Starting back at work after the summer holidays has been a struggle so I've been in need of hiding the dark bags under my eyes.
1.  Clinique All About Eyes Serum

I've been finding it difficult to wake-up in the mornings and like using this cooling roller ball under my eyes to reduce puffiness before applying concealer.  Honestly I have no idea if it actually works but it does feel nice.

2.  Maybelline Fit Me Concealer.

I have this in shade 20 which I think is slightly too dark for me but if I just dot a little bit of it on under my eyes and blend it out it looks fine.  It's a nice creamy consistency too.

3.  Maybelline Colour Tattoo 24hr in On and On Bronze

Nice shimmery metallic-y bronze.  Not too much of a stand out colour but adds some depth to my eyes and brings out the little bit of green I think I can see in them.  It does slide off my lids after a while but I exercise for a living so I think that's to be expected.  Autumnal, but light enough for daytime.

4.  Joik Red Wine Lipgloss

More of a nice lip balm than a gloss.  I like to put this on to soften my lips before adding colour over the top.

5. Topshop Gloss Ink in Sugar Rush

Very wearable natural pink.  Glossy on first application.  Does wear off though.  Looks natural and adds a subtle wash of colour to my deathly pale lips.

6.  Models Own Shading Brush

I've been using this to blend in my concealer under my eye and much prefer it to just dabbing it with my finger like I was before.

7.  Marc Jacobs Daisy Eau So Fresh in my portable perfume bottle

Very useful for regular mid rehearsal spritzing.  The scent is fresh and not too overpowering for work.

So that's my list for now.  I'm sure my make-up tastes will get darker as it gets further in to darker and colder weather.  For now a nice subtle brown shadow and polished lips are easing me in.  Has the weather convinced you to change your make-up habits yet?

Maybelline Fit Me Concealer

Hello there!

I hope you have had a nice day.  I recently ordered this Maybelline concealer from Feel Unique after eyeing it up for a while in the shops.  I have an Art Deco highlighter/concealer pen which I really like but I wanted something a bit more pigmented especially for under my eye.  After testing it out in the shops I decided to go for shade 20 as the only other shade in they had in the shop seemed a little too pale for me.
Fit Me Concealer in shade 20
When it first arrived I was worried that I had remembered the shade number wrong as it seemed a bit dark/orange when I first dabbed it on..  I found that when I blended it out it did match my skin tone really well.  I only need to use a tiny amount.  It's especially good for using under my eyes without looking overly white which was my problem with some under eye concealers in the past.
I like the soft applicator tip to use to dab the concealer on where it's needed and then I blend it out by dabbing and brushing it out with my finger tips until it's blended out enough that it's not visible.  The consistency is thicker and creamier than the Art Deco one.  It feels moisturising and comfortable to wear.
I'm glad I bought this as I will be using it regularly.  It was not a bad price either.  It would probably be perfect if it was just a tiniest bit paler so maybe when I get a chance to test the other shades I can find a more perfect match.

I hope you enjoyed this review !

My first Feel Unique order! Maybelline Haul

Hi there!

I hope you're having a great weekend :).  I recently placed my first ever order with feelunique.com.  There is usually quite a big mark up on the price of cosmetics over here so sometimes it is cheaper to buy them online.  They have free worldwide shipping on orders over 10 pounds, although not all the items are available for shipping overseas.  Once I had found enough items of make-up I was wanting to purchase that met the free shipping amount I made my first order.
The order arrived in this box which was quite a lot larger than the items inside!
The box was filled with these foam pieces which freak me out for some reason.  They just give me the shivers!
I ordered the Fit Me concealer in shade 02 and two Colour 24hr Tattoo eye shadows from Maybelline in the shades Rose Gold and Bronze on Bronze.
I'm really looking forward to testing these beauties out!  Reviews will be coming soon.
Over all I'm happy with my first experience of ordering from Feel Unique and will probably be ordering from them again in the future!
